With 2015 over and 2016 beginning, I have to reflect on my accomplishments this year. I started this journey a year ago on November 1, 2014 not knowing if I would be able to handle it or whether I would like it for that matter. I’ve always been one that was “pleasantly plump” and could never drop weight like I wanted to. After all the fad diets I had tried over the years, that didn’t work of course, I had basically given up. I got married on November 9, 2013 and after seeing my pictures I couldn’t believe how big I had gotten; I hardly recognized myself anymore. One day I was at a local massage place here in town and I overheard my therapist and Eric discussing her starting Crossfit that next week or so. Immediately, as always, I was all for it because I was ready to make a change in my life. As I sat waiting for my session, I assessed Eric and his attitude towards fitness. I knew I could give it a try and he would help push me through to get where I wanted, at least I hoped so! My first day of intro class, as I took in my surroundings, I began to wonder if I knew what I was getting myself into..I was ready though! Denna Haddox was my coach for intro classes and I give a huge shoutout to her for pushing me to give it my all even when I was about to DIE! As time passed and I joined the regular classes, I felt more comfortable with what I was doing, although I still wanted D to be there to walk me through everything! LOL I felt I knew about 60% of what I was doing. A year later, after graduating from nursing school, I feel better than I ever have before! I give all my thanks to Eric and Natalie Bland for their time and efforts. They really care about each and every one of us and our success! I have not only gained more self-confidence but I have met some really great people along the way. My plans are to continue pushing myself to be better and grow as an individual. I never thought I would ever LOVE CrossFit but I can honestly say I am addicted..I guess I drank the Kool-Aid… 🙂 Posting this along with my pictures took some thought because I didn’t want others to pass judgment, but the more I thought about it, I realized how much I can help others to work hard and get the results they want! I still have along way to go, but I’m not stopping here!! I also want to say thanks to Jayne Jeffreys because she also played a part in my success thus far, pushing me and encouraging me to keep going! CrossFit DGA is not just a business, it’s a family and the atmosphere is so much more than ‘just a gym’. Although I will say, hearing Eric say “Brindy, You need to add more weight” not only makes me want to scream at times but it makes me feel like I have come so far and gained so much. I used to hear “Brindy, try just the bar”. hahaha Makes me laugh because I am much stronger now than I was when I began a year ago! If you’re thinking about trying CrossFit but aren’t sure, do it anyway! I’ve been there and know the feeling, but I promise we are all here to encourage and push you just as many have done for me and still continue to do! Thanks to everyone I’ve met and the ones I will meet….Let’s get this year started!!!!!!! 🙂
